Resource Capture: A Solution to Middle Tennessee’s Waste Disposal Crisis

For years, 19 Middle Tennessee counties, including Davidson County, have sent their trash to Middle Point landfill in Rutherford County. Now, due to staggering population growth, the landfill will reach its capacity within six years – meaning it can no longer accept waste. Currently, no formal plan exists to address where the trash will go or how it will be disposed of once the landfill closes.

Seema Prasad, owner of Nashville’s Miel Restaurant  and founder of Resource Capture, has developed an innovative solution for waste disposal that will limit the amount of organic waste in the landfill; lessen the harmful environmental effects of waste disposal; and create marketable and renewable resources, such as nutrient-rich soil that farmers can use to fertilize crops and natural gas to power our homes. Learn more about Resource Capture and its innovative methods by watching the video below.
